Brady helps his neighbors in need

Meet our young friend Brady, a very conscious and caring child who wants to make a difference in this world!

Brady, left, and his brother load birthday kits (cake mix, pan, balloons, banner, etc.) in a shopping cart for the food bank. The kits will be given to people served by CVCCS so they can have a happy birthday!

We first met Brady last summer when he donated 25 birthday kits — gift bags filled with a box cake mix, a disposable cake pan, icing, birthday candles, balloons, and a banner.

His mom, Nicole, said Brady felt compelled to do something for other kids when he realized there are families who can’t afford to celebrate their children’s birthday.

“All kids should have a happy birthday,” Brady said. Shortly after donating the kits he set a goal for himself to donate 40 more in the fall — a goal he met!

Early this spring, his mom told us that Brady wanted to help out in the food bank. While our policy is for volunteers to be older because of safety concerns, we arranged to have Brady come in before we opened in the morning to bag vegetables and fruit and other easy tasks.

Brady has finished his 6-week service to us, and his mom made us this great video that chronicles his volunteerism. Here’s what a future leader looks like!

Thank you, Brady!!
